Restructuring Bill Is Passed by Texas Legislature
On June 18, 1999, The Texas State Legislature
passed the much talked about electric industry restructuring
bill that will bring competition to the Texas utility industry.
Customers served by investor owned utilities will be most
affected by the new legislation. Presently, we at Sam Houston
Electric Cooperative are uncertain as to exactly how the new
legislation will affect us. As these changes unfold, our commitment
to our members and the community will continue to strengthen.
Overall, Sam Houston Electric Cooperative views these changes
as an opportunity to thrive. Throughout our 65 years, we've
been in business to serve our members; each new change is
merely an opportunity to serve them better.
